2023 Wildwood Summer Reading 

Did you know that summer learning loss will affect your reading comprehension if you skip reading over the summer?

Therefore, it’s absolutely vital that you continue to read at least 20 minutes a day. This will help combat the summer slide. Please look through the suggested reading book list, found at the bottom, with your parents to find the best books for summer vacation that will help keep you reading.

Please note that I have provided Lexile Scores, Genre, and marked titles as Series and Graphic Novel.   Parents are encouraged to review, discuss, and decide with their child what titles would be best.                        

During down times, you should strive, with parental help, to set aside that 20 minutes to relax and pull out that book!  Summer reading should be fun and enjoyable!  Parent/Guardians can also help by:

• Read aloud together
• Set a good example
• Read the same book as your child and discuss
• Form a book club with friends and get together to discuss the book
•  Visit the Mountain Lakes Public Library all time – like 3 times a day!!  lol
•  Use audiobooks for long trips
• Subscribe to magazines

   All Wildwood students are asked to read over the summer and keep a simple Reading Log. This Log will be turned in at the start of school in September.

Summer Reading Logs will be due your first day of Library time.  I also recommend and encourage you to participate in the Mountain Lakes Public Library Reading Program.  Participants in either or both the Wildwood School and the Mountain Lakes Public Library Reading Program will receive recognition at an assembly in the Fall.
