Introduction

Mountain Lakes High School is the flagship institution in this premiere school district in New Jersey. Our faculty promotes a supportive learning environment where every student is challenged, inspired, and empowered to cultivate the intellectual curiosity, skills, and knowledge needed to excel at college and in one’s career. In order for students to gain the most from their high school educational experience, we urge careful course planning that involves the student, his or her parents, teachers and the school counselor. This collaboration will result in a comprehensive educational program that is adapted to individual needs as well as state and local graduation requirements.

Remember that each year at MLHS may have a different focus. In 9th grade, we invest much time and effort to ensure the transition from middle school is positive and creates the right foundation for one’s years as upperclassmen.  Sophomore year is one in which students may start to explore interests by taking new electives and continue to challenge themselves academically. By 11th grade, students should be looking to complete their graduation requirements and focusing on furthering interests related to post-secondary planning. This way, as Seniors, our students are prepared for the transition to their next stage of life, including college and/or career goals.

Above all, please plan a program that challenges you appropriately, sets realistic goals, and enables you to take advantage of the diversified offerings available. As always, all the members of the Mountain Lakes High School staff look forward to assisting you in this exciting process.

Enjoy the journey!
