Child Study

Child Study is a course in which students learn about the development of young children from conception through middle childhood. The course consists of units which include the following: the changing family and cross-culture differences, scenarios for the future of the family, pregnancy and childbirth, the newborn, the infant, the toddler, the pre-schooler, the early elementary child, and various types of child care. Total growth of the individual (physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally) is explored, and students will have the opportunity to observe and interact with young children of different ages with trips to various local early childhood programs.
