Multimedia Presentations

Multimedia is the art form of the digital age. Multimedia melds electronic source material—graphics, audio, video, text, and more—into coherent communications for presentations, movies, websites, games, video or other media. Since multimedia is also at the core of all presentational communication, our students must be media literate. They must have the ability to sift through and analyze the messages that inform, entertain and persuade us every day. This class challenges students to bring critical thinking skills to bear on all media and to question what lies behind media productions and to be aware of factors that influence content.

As students will likely need to create multimedia products as part of their academic and professional experiences students will develop dynamic productions using programs such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Flash, Garage Band, Audacity, iTunes, and iMovie and then publish their projects to the Web on sites such as YouTube. Every year on the night of Empty Bowls, the Mountain Lakes School District sponsors two service initiatives. Funds raised that evening are used to support the Morristown Soup Kitchen and another worthy organizations. The movie above, Hope for Haiti, was created by the class and directed by Jake Rosati. It was shown to help raise funds for a district-wide drive to help the earthquake victims of Haiti.
