Advanced Placement Studio Art
Prerequisites: Portfolio Development, presentation of an art portfolio, and a teacher recommendation

Advanced Placement Studio Art is an intensive, full-year course designed for the student who has satisfied a prerequisite of two years of previous study in art. This course addresses advanced concepts in drawing, color theory, painting, computer-generated design, printmaking, mixed media, and two- or three-dimensional design concepts. As prescribed by The College Board, the course will result in the development of a portfolio(s) by each student. Prior to entry into the course each students must present a portfolio of work to the department. Students must also work over the summer to prepare for the course.

Advanced Placement Studio Art is an elective course designed to meet the needs of all students through a flexible, and differentiated, curriculum. This course meets the NJ State requirement for the fine arts.

Evaluation of student work is both oral and written. Students are required to complete several portfolio assessments, weekly critiques, homework and a final exam. Expectations and evaluations for all assignments and projects are expressed through rubrics.
