Drawing
is a course designed to address two-dimensional drawing instruction with a focus on observational drawing technique, portraiture, perspective, still life, and landscape drawing executed in a variety of drawing media. Projects are designed to help students improve their personal drawing skills and technique while exploring the history of drawing. This is a class that is of particular interest to the advanced student who wishes to enhance their fundamental drawing skills. This course is also particularly useful for any students seeking to develop drawing skills which can serve as a means of communicating ideas.

Drawing is an elective course designed to meet the needs of all students through a flexible, and differentiated, curriculum. This course meets the NJ State requirement for the fine arts and is offered to all high school students who have taken Foundations of Art.

Evaluation of student work is both oral and written. Students are required to complete several portfolio assessments, weekly critiques, homework and a final exam. Expectations and evaluations for all assignments and projects are expressed through rubrics.
